Today's Question - It's a classic - You are at a snowbound remote cabin and have a fever that could be fatal. The paramedics can't get there but the doctor tells you (by phone) of a temporary remedy. It must be cooked exactly 15 minutes. (No more! No less!) You have no watch or clock, just two hourglass style egg timers. One empties in 11 minutes. The other in 7 minutes. How do you calculate the 15 minutes you'll soon need to save your life? (There are at least two methods but please pick the fastest - after all your life is at stake.)

Reveal Answer Corner Answer - The hourglass remedy: Solution I - Turn both the 7-minute and 11 minute timers over. When the 7-minute runs out, start cooking. There are 4 minutes left in the 11 minute. When 11 runs out flip it over. When it runs out, you will have been cooking for 15 minutes (4+11). The trouble is it took you 22 minutes (7+4+11). Solution II (faster) - Turn both over and start cooking. When 7 runs out, turn over (there is still 4 minutes in 11). When 11 runs out, 11 minutes have expired and there are 3 minutes left in the top of the 7. But there are 4 minutes in the bottom of 7 - so - turn 7 over and when that 4 minutes is gone, 15 minutes will have expired. (Total time 15 minutes.)
